Matsubaya Saryo Teahouse

We were asked to design a teahouse as a meditation space for appreciating bonsai, and we designed the ultimate teahouse.

The interior of the tea room is completely blocked off from light and sound from outside, and is a tiny one-tatami tea room with only a bench and a one-tatami tea seat. The walls are made of earthen walls and mirrored lattice walls.

The interior of the store is protected by a bamboo blind and operates as a bonsai cafe, with a lone pine tree welcoming you at the entrance.
